Before the first decision was made about the Young Adult portal of the Florida Catholic site, we were served over and over again by this diverse community of Catholics with a deep hunger to know and live their faith. Through your responses via e-mail questions, focus groups and our online survey, you have served us well and provided an abundance of information on what is needed to draw a connection between your faith and your culture.
We have learned that young adults today hunger for something transcendent in their lives as they seek to know and be involved in their faith, while dealing with real-life issues. With that in mind, our young adult pages will provide news, Bible and spiritual readings grounded in Catholic theology, media resources, and as the site develops — a network gateway to connect with other Catholic young adults. The site will also feature a vocation discernment column by Father Len Plazewski, director of vocations for the Diocese of St. Petersburg and president of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocations Directors. Father Len will also tackle an array of questions sent his way by readers. Jon and Evelyn Bean, Catholic resource specialists for Catholic Crown Financial Ministries will also present a bi-weekly column called “Spiritual Cents,” teaching young adults about biblical financial principles. The Beans will also be available to answer questions posed on issues such as debt elimination and family budgets as well as college-age issues.
