Action needed for mental health servicesA crisis may be avoided in services to the mentally ill, especially children and youths, if you contact Governor Charlie Crist at 850-488-7146, Senate President Ken Pruitt at 850-487-5299, and House Speaker Marco Rubio at 850-488-1450. Or, you can create an e-mail letter at the following: http://www.5000friends.com/index.cfm/referer/legislator.createMail/ID/416/. Urge that they enact the mental health parity bill introduced by Rep. Ed Homan and Sen. Victor Crist. The bill would help preserve and enhance services to the mentally ill in Florida. Our Lord calls on his followers to be concerned for the most vulnerable among us. Incarnation School receives magazine honorSARASOTA | Incarnation School in Sarasota has been honored as School of the Month for March 2008 by Today’s Catholic Teacher magazine. The magazine focused on a biannual celebration at the school called Fiesta Encarnacion. This event serves as an “insight in the culture of Spain, the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America and the growing Hispanic culture in this country,” the magazine stated. Fiesta Encarnacion happens every other spring with the students dressing up and taking part in a bilingual Mass. The day includes lots of food, singing, games and a variety of activities. Children from each grade contribute to the day with months of planning. This is the second time the school has been honored as School of the Month by the national magazine, the last time being in 2004 for the annual health fair.
