PUNTA GORDA | Construction began in October on a new church at Sacred Heart Parish in Punta Gorda. The original buildings suffered damage during the 2004 hurricane season, and new structures will be built according to the diocese’s new construction policies. A 20-foot-by-14-foot mosaic of the painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by artist Joe Fanelli will be installed in the church when the building is completed.

NAPLES | Students at St. Elizabeth Seton School wrote messages to baby Jesus on small slips of paper and placed them inside balloons.
