New school, new students

Preschool children gather around the American flag Aug. 18 for the first day of classes at St. Catherine in Sebring, the first Catholic school in Highlands County and the Eastern Deanery. It will initially serve students from 3-year-olds to second-graders.

Bishop Verot grad completes bike trip of a lifetime

FORT MYERS | Aaron Patzwahl completed his journey of a lifetime as the youngest member of bike team that crossed the country to raise money and build houses.

Patzwahl, who graduated with honors from Bishop Verot in May, is now at the University of Notre Dame, spent 56 days biking more than 3,300 miles from San Diego to Savannah with a group of strangers participating in the Fuller Center bike adventure. The ride raised awareness and money for the Fuller Center for Housing. Along the way the group help build seven homes. MORE...
