Priests and deacons celebrate jubilees at chrism Mass

The following priests and deacons were recognized as golden and silver jubilarians during the March 18 chrism Mass at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.

GOLDEN JUBILARIANS

FATHER JOHN H. BELFIELD

Father Belfield was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He is a graduate of the University of Steubenville and St. John Vianney Seminary in Bloomingdale, Ohio, and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He was ordained May 5, 1958, in Steubenville, Ohio. In the Diocese of Steubenville he was a teacher in residence at Holy Name Cathedral, assistant editor with the Steubenville Register, diocesan president of the senate of priests, health coordinator and literature director. At the Diocese of Venice he served as administrator at several parishes and missions. He retired in 1994 and assists at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Avon Park.

FATHER CARL A. BIRARELLI

Father Birarelli was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Beverly, Mass. He is a graduate of St. Charles College in Staten Island, N.Y., and Sacred Heart Seminary in Melrose Park, Ill. He was ordained June 16, 1958, in Chicago. He has served in parishes in Atikokokan, Ontario; Thunder Bay, Ontario; Cincinnati; and as pastor at St. Andrew Parish in Cape Coral and vicar at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Sarasota. He serves as an assistant at St. Patrick Parish in Sarasota.

FATHER WILLIAM EDWARD KEKEISEN

Father Kekeisen was born June 16, 1930. He is a graduate of St. Meinrad Minor Seminary in St. Meinrad, Ind., and St. John’s Seminary in Little Rock, Ark. He was ordained May 24, 1958, in Springfield, Ill. He served at parishes in Quincy, Springfield, Wood River, Decatur, Bathalto, Edmundsville, Vandalia, Mount Olive and Jerseyville, Ill. He retired in 1998 and serves weekends at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Venice and San Pedro Parish in North Port.

FATHER BARTHOLOMEW R. LARKIN

Father Larkin, Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Salem, Mass. He is a graduate of Mount Carmel College in Niagara Falls, Ont., St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., and Whitefriars Hall in Washington, D.C. He was ordained May 31, 1958, in Hamilton, Mass. He served in parishes in Joliet, Ill.; Cresskill, N.J.; Newport News, Va.; Niagara Falls, Ontario; Closter, N.J.; and Louisville, Ky. He serves as pastor at St. Francis of Assisi in Grove City.

MSGR. FRANK M. MOUCH

Msgr. Mouch was born July 25, 1932, in Sandusky, Ohio. He graduated from Pontifical College Josephinum, the University of Florida and Angelicum University in Rome. He was ordained June 10, 1958. He was assistant business officer and instructor at Pontifical College Josephinum; assistant chancellor of the Diocese of St. Augustine; administrator for a parish in Jacksonville; chaplain at the University of Florida; president of Cardinal Mooney High School and administrator for St. Martha Parish in Sarasota; director of education for Diocese of St. Petersburg and temporary administrator of six parishes; rector/president of Pontifical College Jospehinum; director of planning, development, communication and construction for the Diocese of Venice; pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Sarasota; and president of Saint Leo College in St. Leo. He assists in St. Mark and St. Mary parishes in St. Petersburg, and assists with the lay pastoral ministry program in the Diocese of Venice.

FATHER JAMES M. SAYERS

Father Sayers was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Chicago. He graduated from Quigley Seminary in Chicago and St. Mary of the Lake University in Mundelien, Ill. He was ordained April 12, 1958, in Mundelien and served in five parishes in the Chicago area. He retired in 2002 and assists at St. Peter the Apostle in Naples.

SILVER JUBILARIANS

FATHER STANLEY JOSEPH DOMBROWSKI

Father Dombrowski, Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, was born July 20, 1947, in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales in Allentown, Pa., and De Sales Hall School of Theology in Washington, D.C. He was ordained May 21, 1983, in Wilmington, Del. He was a teacher of science and religion in Wilmington, campus minister of Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, and served in the Chaplain Corps of the U.S. Navy in San Diego. He serves as pastor of St. Cecilia Parish.

FATHER JANUSZ (JAY) JANCARZ

Father Jancarz was born June 30, 1956, in Sucha, Poland. He is a graduate of Technikum Kolejowe (Railroad Engineering School) in Krakow, Poland; and Seminarium Zagraniczne Poznan in Poland. He was ordained May 17, 1983, in Poznan. He has served in parishes in Szczecin, Poland; Fall River, Mass.; and Detroit, as well as Charles Borromeo Parish in Port Charlotte, San Pedro Parish in North Port and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He served as chaplain for the Knights of Columbus for the Diocese of Venice. He is pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish in Fort Myers.

FATHER CORNELIUS F. LAMBERT

Father Lambert was born June 24, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is a graduate of Fordham University and Seton Hall University. He was ordained May 26, 1983, at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. He has served at parishes in Blackwood, Avalon and Vineland, N.J. He retired in April 2002 and assists at St. Leo Parish in Bonita Springs.

DEACON WILLIAM R. BAUER

Deacon Bauer was born July 6, 1941, in Queens, N.Y. He received a degree from Rutgers University. He and his wife, Mary, have three children and five grandchildren. He was ordained May 7, 1983, and serves at Immaculate Conception Parish in Clinton, N.J., Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Venice.

DEACON LEONARD B. KRUK

Deacon Kruk was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Nanticoke, Pa. He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia and Bloomsburg State University in Bloomsburg, Pa. He was ordained June 18, 1983, in Paterson, N.J. He and his wife, Helen, have three children and five grandchildren. He has served parishes in Pequannock and Brick, N.J.; Florida Gulf Coast University in Estero; and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Naples. He retired in 2002.

DEACON EDWARD J. MCCARTHY

Deacon McCarthy was born Oct. 18, 1936, in New York City. He attended Villanova University in Philadelphia and City College of New York. He and his wife, Jane, have six children and 19 grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 and worked with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He was ordained June 4, 1983, in Cleveland and worked in sacramental programs and renewal programs for a parish in Chardon, Ohio. He also served on the Cleveland presbyteral council as the diaconate observer for the Diocese of Cleveland. He resides in Concord Township, Ohio. His current seasonal assignment is at St. Agnes Parish in Naples.
