Gospel show has two local stops

“Mark’s Gospel Live!” a solo-performer production that employs a storytelling format to communicate the message of the Gospel of Mark, will take place in two parishes in October.

One performance will be Oct. 8, 7 p.m., at Holy Family Parish, 200 78th Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg. A second performance will take place Thursday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., at St. Justin Martyr Parish, 10851 Ridge Road, Seminole. According to the show’s Web site, the performance might be too intense for children under age 8 because the second half includes the crucifixion. Tickets are not needed for the Holy Family show, but because of limited seating, St. Justin Martyr is issuing free tickets that can be picked up at the parish office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Retrouvaille couples will meet with pope

Two Retrouvaille leadership couples in the Diocese of St. Petersburg have been invited to meet privately with Pope Benedict XVI. The marriage-saving efforts of Pat and Joyce Clark of St. Justin Martyr Parish in Seminole, and Joe and Jeanne Botz of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in New Port Richey sparked the invitation.

The Clarks and the Botzes serve as coordinators of Retrouvaille of Tampa Bay, a marriage ministry that helps distressed couples find hope and healing for their relationships. The couples will join about 140 other Retrouvaille couples who will meet the pope Sept. 26 at his summer residence southeast of Rome.

Tens of thousands of couples have completed Retrouvaille, which uses a comprehensive weekend program and a series of follow-up sessions to help those in distressed marriages learn how to communicate more effectively. Nearly 85 percent of people attending have indicated the program is successful in helping them rehabilitate their marriages.
