Seminarian Dominic Corona

Meet the Seminarian

Dominic Corona, 44

Home parish: St. Ignatius of Antioch, Tarpon Springs

Name of Seminary: St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary

School attended before seminary: University of South Florida

Hobbies: Reading, canoeing, spending time with family and friends, and going to the movies.

FC: When was the first time you thought of the priesthood?

DOMINIC CORONA: While I was working in the business world, at the age of about 25.

FC: Who influenced you to want to become a priest and how did that person influence you?

DOMINIC CORONA: Father Mike Muhr was very influential for me because he loved the people within and outside of his community, and he was a living example of what I believe a disciple of Christ should be.

FC: What is your favorite Scripture passage and why?

DOMINIC CORONA: John 21:22. It reminds me to keep my focus on God because I follow him.

FC: What are some of the most important parts of the discernment process?

DOMINIC CORONA: To not lose sight of your vocation and why you felt called in the first place.

FC: What advice would you give to someone considering a vocation to the priesthood or religious life?

DOMINIC CORONA: Listen to your call and become active in making the dream a reality; for example, speaking with a vocation director and taking the necessary steps that lead to the priesthood or a religious life.

FC: Who is your favorite saint and why is he/she your favorite?

DOMINIC CORONA: St. Charles Borromeo because of his love for the priesthood and his desire to help teach people about their Catholic faith.

FC: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned spiritually, so far, while at the seminary?

DOMINIC CORONA: That spiritual growth is sometimes quite painful, while remembering that God is also very merciful.

FC: What do you look forward to the most when you become a priest?

DOMINIC CORONA: To be able to celebrate the sacraments, while walking with the people in a closer journey towards God.
