ST. PETERSBURG | Bishop Robert N. Lynch presents a St. Jude the Apostle Medal to Tony Coleman, a parishioner at Sacred Heart Parish in Dade City, as his wife, Tiffany, shares in the moment. Medals were presented to those parishioners from around the diocese who have shown outstanding service to their parishes. “You don’t do (work for the church) for a thank you. So when the parish has a chance to come back and say, ‘Thank you very much,’ it means a lot to me and my wife,” Coleman told the Florida Catholic. Coleman serves Sacred Heart as head of the steering committee and does many computer-related tasks for the parish. For a complete list of all recipients, click HERE.
This Advent, let’s not just put an Advent wreath out as a decoration. Let’s use the blessed thing. Gather with your family, friends or prayer group this season and pray the Advent Wreath Prayer together. The Florida Catholic is making this prayer available as a PDF file that can be downloaded and printed by clicking on the image above.

ST. PETERSBURG | Lyn Folsom and Fran Marinari of Holy Name Parish in Gulfport look over the Book of Gospels that they received on behalf of their parish from Bishop Robert N. Lynch during a Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral on Nov. 25. The bishop introduced his first Pastoral Letter, Living Eucharist: Gathered, Nourished, Sent. The book is symbolic of the first year of the renewal initiative that places particular emphasis on the Liturgy of the Word.
