Speaking on the need for affordable housing, the bishop referred to Pinellas Hope, the temporary homeless assistance center operated by Catholic Charities. The bishop said, “It’s only a temporary fix and it will be in vain if we cannot create affordable rental housing for those who fall at 30 percent of the median income, who earn $16,000 or less,”.
