Sister Margaret Foley, 73

Former St. Jude Catholic School teacher Sister Margaret Foley, also known as Sister Patrick Clare Foley, died June 2 in Westlake, Ohio. She was 73 and in her 55th year as an Adrian Dominican sister.
Sister Foley was born in Chicago and graduated from Aquinas High School, Chicago. Her education includes a bachelor’s of philosophy degree in English from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Mich.

Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the soul of Thy servant Sister Margaret Foley, from every bond of sin, that being raised in the glory of the resurrection, he may be refreshed among the Saints and Elect. We pray through Christ our Lord.

Sister Foley began her work in education. Her 49 years in schools took her to many areas of the United States. In Florida, she taught at St. Matthew Catholic School, Jacksonville; Bishop Moore High School, Orlando, 1973-75; Our Lady of Lourdes School, Melbourne, 1975-78; and St. Jude Catholic School, St. Petersburg, 1978-80.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 6 in the chapel of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. Survivors include two sisters: Catherine Devane, Palos Heights, Ill.; and Eileen Meyer, Oak Lawn, Ill. Memorial gifts may be made to: Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221.
