VALETA ORLANDO| FC HOMILYPriest: Speaks to the people, usually focusing on that day’s Scriptures and/or the feast being celebrated at Mass. People: Sit and listen. Did you know? A homily is mandatory on Sundays and holy days of obligation. It may not be omitted without serious reason. Tip: This is not intermission. Remember, sitting is the posture of attentive listening. PROFESSION OF FAITH, PRAYER OF THE FAITHFULPriest: Begins the Nicene or Apostles’ Creed, then invites the people to pray for various intentions, which are read by a lay minister or deacon. People: Stand, recite the Creed and respond aloud in prayer for the intentions. Did you know? The shorter Apostles’ Creed often is used at children’s Masses. Tip: As an outline of our faith, the Creed is a good prayer to have committed to memory to be said from the heart, rather than read from a missal.
