Respect Life Conference scholarship sponsors soughtPosted: 09.06.08 The Florida Respect Life Conference, scheduled for Oct. 10-11 at the Ramada Conference Center in Tallahassee, will bring hundreds of advocates for pro-life to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. Organizers, led by Deacon Tim Warner, diocesan director for pro-life activities, have been working to ensure that attendees will have a successful conference. Speakers for the conference include Bishop John H. Ricard, SSJ, and Bishop Martin D. Holley, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, along with numerous experts in the fields of marriage, natural family planning, the stem-cell debate and abolition of the death penalty. Bishop Victor Galeone of the Diocese of St. Augustine and moderator of the state pro-life coordinating committee, is the keynote speaker. Sponsors for student scholarships to attend the conference are being sought, according to Deacon Warner. “For $40, sponsors can provide an opportunity for a member of the Catholic Student Union at Florida State University who would not otherwise be able to afford conference registration to attend. The pro-life activities of the CSU have been remarkable, and the witness they give to the sanctity of life on their campus is evidence of the importance of this ministry in our church and in this time.” The deadline to register for the conference is Sept. 30.
