AMY M. FERRARA SMITH| FC PENSACOLA | An era is coming to an end, as Sister Patricia Ann Pepitone, Sisters of Mercy, will leave St. John the Evangelist School in Pensacola in December. The Sisters of Mercy have served the children in the diocese at St. John and other schools for nearly 130 years. Sister Pepitone has served as principal of St. John since 1993. At a luncheon at Landry’s Seafood Restaurant on Nov. 15, Susan Mueller, superintendent of Catholic schools, presented Sister Pepitone with a basket of remembrances of her time spent working for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee.

Twenty-four inductees were received into the academic society on Nov. 16. To remain members of the society, students must maintain a 3.75 weighted grade point average or a 3.5 unweighted grade point average. The weighted grade point average factors in extra academic points for honors and advanced placement classes.
