St. Sylvester Parish dedicates new church

GULF BREEZE | Bishop John H. Ricard, SSJ, blesses the baptismal font during the dedication of St. Sylvester Parish’s new church July 13. “Our motto was ‘Pray, Build, Celebrate,’” said the pastor, Father John Kelly, “and we’ve done a lot of praying, we’ve done a lot of sacrificing and building. Diocesan capital campaign begins in 16 more parishes
Janice Pentz has seen some hard times. Widowed with eight children between the ages of 9 and 18 in 1980, she said that God was always there for her and she’s happy to be giving back.
Pentz serves as one of the co-chairwoman for the capital campaign “Sharing the Vision – Growing in Faith” at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in DeFuniak Springs. “I think it’s important to do something constructive to keep the church going in northwest Florida. I want the church to be here for all our children.
