OBITUARYAnthony C. CallipareFather Callipare’s father dies in western New York state Anthony C. Callipare, father of Father Joseph Callipare, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Pensacola, died in Rochester, N.Y., April 23 following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his son, Anthony Jr. In addition to Father Callipare, he is survived by daughters Rosemary Bachman and Phyllis DeFilipps and son Philip Callipare, all of Rochester. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jennifer DeFilipps, Sara Moravec, Donald DeFilipps, Phillip Callipare, Ensign Kyle Bachman, Trevor Bachman, Casandra Callipare and Joseph Callipare; by his sisters, Theresa Burge, Virginia Luczko, Joanie Lester, Helen Zazzara and Arlene Rielich; sisters-in-law, Kay Dalle and Rosalie McEvily; and many nieces and nephews. He was retired from Eastman Kodak Co. and the city of Rochester Parks Department, where he worked with and developed countless youths in the sport of speed skating. He was also a citywide and national men’s speed skating champion and a WWII veteran. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 26 at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Greece, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Journey Home, 994 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626, or Masses may be offered through St. John Parish, 303 S. Navy Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32507.
