Celebrating Catholic Schools in Photos
First grader Sara Roe sets an example for her classmates as students at St. Mary Catholic School in Fort Walton Beach prayed for peace Jan. 30 as part of Catholic Schools Week. The “rally around the flag” included patriotic songs and prayers for peace in our country and the world. It was moved indoors from the outside flagpole due to inclement weather.
St. Mary School students in Fort Walton Beach adapted quickly to a change in plans when their “rally around the flag for peace” event had to be moved inside because of cold, windy weather Jan. 30. Students sang the National Anthem, and led by Father Nick Schumm, prayed for peace. The event was part of the school's Catholic Schools Week activities.
Pensacola Catholic High School’s girls’ soccer team won their first regional title on Jan. 29 at the school to kickoff Catholic Schools Week. The Crusaders dominated Taylor County in the second half to persevere to a 2-1 victory.
To kick-off Catholic Schools Week, third-grade student Julia Rodriguez at St. Mary Catholic School in Fort Walton Beach donates non-perishable food items for Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida.
Second graders at Little Flower Catholic School in Pensacola took advantage of a warm January day to clean up the grounds around their school as part of their Catholic Schools Week activities. Weeding around the statue of their patroness, St. Therese of Lisieux, yielded plenty of dollar weeds after the winter rains.
