The display was made possible through a donation from Elayne Fischer in dedication to her parents and family. Passionist Father Paul Wierichs, center director, commissioned Baker Liturgical Art and Italian designer Angelo Gherardi to create and install the 9-foot art piece weighing nearly 2,000 pounds. The white Carrara marble corpus is hand carved and mounted to a 22-foot steel cross. The cross is supported by a base of black African granite, featuring the Passionists’ symbol in marble mosaic and the words “We preach Christ crucified” cut into the granite and gold leaf. In 2006, Baker Liturgical Art completed the restoration of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens for Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito.
