MIAMI | The Archdiocese of Miami celebrated the annual Mass marking World AIDS Day Sunday, Dec. 2, at St. Mary Cathedral. The homilist was Father Dennis Rausch, retired director of HIV/AIDS ministry for Catholic Charities, who spoke about the HIV-AIDS pandemic and the unique challenges the archdiocese faces on the issue. Florida has the highest new infection rate in the U.S. and Miami-Dade, Broward and Jacksonville have the highest in-state infection rates, Father Rausch said.
