MIAMI | Vietnamese seminarian Viet Nguyen prays the rosary Dec. 8 at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami, during a jubilee year event sponsored by the archdiocese’s apostolic movements on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. In addition to praying the rosary in three languages — English, Spanish and Creole — participants joined Archbishop John C. Favalora in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. It was the first of a series of Marian events marking the 50th anniversary of the archdiocese. On Dec. 12, two icons of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the jubilee celebration, were scheduled to leave St. Mary Cathedral to begin a pilgrimage throughout south Florida, with one icon going to the northernmost parish, Mary Help of Christians in Parkland, the other to the southernmost parish, St. Mary Star of the Sea in Key West. The icons will make weekly stops at other churches, finally converging at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Doral, from where they will be taken to the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise for the closing Mass of the jubilee year, Oct. 7, 2008.
