Interested in diaconate?

The Office of the Permanent Diaconate will host an informational meeting for men interested in the permanent diaconate Saturday, April 19, 9:30 a.m.-noon, at St. Augustine Parish, 1400 Miller Road, Coral Gables.

The permanent diaconate is open to men who are married (for at least seven years) and unmarried between the ages of 31 and 60, who have a strong Catholic faith and a solid reputation and character. They must be in full communion with the church.

This is an ordained ministry, along with the priesthood and the episcopate. Permanent deacons preach and teach, assist priests and bishops in the celebration of the Eucharist and oversee ministries of charity and justice.

Men interested in being considered for the next aspirancy year should contact their parish pastors who are responsible for the nomination phase of the application process. For more information, call Deacon Victor Pimentel, 305-762-1133.
